Set up OverText 2022 for daily use

Any version

OverText 2022 can be candidate for a everyday use, either being used as word processor or simple notepad. This can be done with a few customizations, being necessary or not, but still nice to have. Below is a non-exhaustive list of elements that can be changed and/or customized, to make OverText suitable for daily use (some of the above elements may not be doable in previous versions of the software):

  1. Make sure the size of the buttons at the top of the editor suits you. Choose between the Dropdown Menus and the Ribbon in the Options dialog (both interfaces contain the same elements and buttons, but their sizes and layout are different).

  2. Change the editor's background color, depending on if you prefer using a more light or dark theme. All colors are available.

  3. Only display the Ribbon tabs or Menu toolbar icons thay you need. This will prevent you from looking everywhere when being in a rush. You can pick the elements you want to display in the Options dialog, in the User Interface tab.

  4. Make sure the languages in which you perform spellchecks are installed and selected. To do that, locate the Spellcheck button (checked "A" icon), and choose Language Settings from the menu. Click on Want more languages? Download the full database! link (this can take a minute or two), and, once the download is done, click on your preferred language and click OK. The next time you'll perform a spellcheck, it will be done in that selected language.

  5. Check each keyboard shortcut that you'll need to know, listed in the Keyboard Shortcuts dialog (accessible using the Ctrl + Alt + K keyboard shortcut).

  6. Set your preferred image resizing mode in the Options. OverText allows you to automatically resize large images to fit the page. The maximum supported resolution is 1920x1200 for each picture.

  7. Define the font that you'll be using by default for every new document. Out of the box, OverText uses the Segoe UI, 11pt font. This can be modified in the Options dialog. The same thing applies for the font color, which is black by default.

  8. Determine how often OverText will automatically save your document, in case the software crashes or your computer is victim of a power outage. The maximum time between each time is one hour (60 minutes), and the minimum is 5 seconds. We recommend you to enable the Automatic Document Recovery feature, which can save precious time in case of a problem.

  9. Finally, choose how OverText should update itself. If you wish to keep the same version forever and not get new updates, disable OverRender AutoUpdate in the Automatic Updates settings. This can be done in the Options dialog, in the Advanced Options tab.

That's it! You're now ready to daily drive OverText 2022!
